Arnold Clark staff walked a total of 2,937 miles at the events that took place in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh, between April and September this year. As sponsors of the Kiltwalk, Arnold Clark doubled the amount fundraised by every employee, which was then topped up 40% by Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation.

Eddie Hawthorne, Chief Executive and Group Managing Director of Arnold Clark took part in the Glasgow event, and commented on the achievement:

‘I’m incredibly proud of all 147 of our staff walkers, who have raised a phenomenal total for causes close to their hearts at the Kiltwalk events this year. As a company, we are delighted to be able to match donations for our employees and support the Kiltwalk organisation.

‘The £170,079 forms part of the overall £2.4 million that all walkers have raised this year, and this will undoubtedly transform the lives of many for the better. We are really looking forward to the 2018 events and continuing our partnership with the Kiltwalk.’

The Arnold Clark staff walkers helped make this year’s Kiltwalk the most successful ever, with more than 14,000 fundraisers taking part.

A special event was held at our head office in Glasgow where representatives from the Beatson Cancer Charity, Glasgow Children's Hospital and The Haven Centre were invited to thank staff for taking part.

Paul Cooney, CEO of the Kiltwalk said:

‘A huge part of the success of Kiltwalk is down to the unrivalled support and commitment of the directors, management and staff of Arnold Clark. On behalf of Sir Tom Hunter, the trustees and everyone at Kiltwalk along with the 780 charities that benefitted in 2017, we say a massive thank you for this enormous fundraising total, every penny of which goes to the great charities chosen by the Arnold Clark teams who walked for what they care about.’

The Kiltwalk events will return in 2018 and will kick off on 29th April in Glasgow, followed by Aberdeen on June 3rd, Dundee on 19th August and Edinburgh on 16th September. Next year Arnold Clark will once again be donating four brand-new cars to the Kiltwalk, which will be won by a participant at each of the walks.
