Ken Macintosh, Member of the Scottish Parliament for West Scotland, visited Harry Fairbairn MINI in Giffnock and spent some time talking to the branch’s apprentices to find out more about the work they do as they build towards gaining their qualifications.
The visit was part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week, which celebrates the benefits that apprenticeships bring to businesses, individuals and the economy with a number of events planned throughout the country.
He was given a tour of the facility and spoke to apprentices working in a diverse range of fields including Parts Apprentice Antonio Gonzalez, Apprentice Technician Christopher Lavelle, and Apprentice Service Advisor Nicole Gallagher.
Ken Macintosh said:
‘The young people were very impressive. Clearly, they’re not just enjoying their work but enjoying the whole experience. What’s also good is that Arnold Clark is supporting them through this and the apprenticeship programme itself has really helped them and given them the satisfaction they are looking for.’
Arnold Clark apprentices split their time between their assigned branch under the supervision of their mentor, and learning at the leading-edge facilities at GTG, Arnold Clark’s training division.
