The Alpine A110 will soon be arriving in selected showrooms throughout the UK. Arnold Clark is delighted to showcase this stunning French sports car with our Hillington branch specially selected to introduce the Alpine brand to a new generation.

A rich heritage

In France, the Alpine holds a special place in the hearts of motorsport fans with wins at a range of iconic automotive events. The first generation of Alpines were not widely sold in the UK, and outside of a few aficionados, these classic cars don’t have the recognition they deserve alongside other European greats from the golden age of motorsport.

The Alpine launched at the 1955 Paris Motor Show. It was the invention of automotive innovator Jean Rédélé, a racing driver and Renault dealer. Following some successes with Renault cars in rally events, including winning the Coupe des Alpes, he was given the go-ahead by bosses at Renault to develop a new sports car brand, and the rest is history. The Alpine would go from strength to strength, achieving greatness throughout the 1970s, winning the Rallye Monte Carlo in 1971, the World Rally Championship in 1973 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1978.

Reborn for the next generation

After a break of more than 20 years, the Alpine returned in style when the Alpine Vision concept car was displayed in Monaco in 2016. The road-going Alpine A110 Première Edition was unveiled just one year later at the Geneva Motor Show. In tribute to the year Alpine was founded, just 1,955 examples of this launch model will be produced. Such is the excitement for this revival, every car was reserved in just five days.

The new A110 is staying close to its roots; it’s designed in France and will be manufactured in the same factory in Dieppe where Alpines have been constructed since 1969.

Designed for the 21st century

The new Alpine takes inspiration from the 1966 A110 Berlinette, but other than the timeless look, everything about the new car uses the latest automotive technology. Like all Alpines, it’s rear-wheel drive, and an aluminium body keeps the weight below 1,100kg, meaning it’s agile enough to tackle those challenging mountain roads. The A110 is powered by a turbocharged 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 252PS. The outstanding power to weight ratio, along with a launch control system, means the A110 goes from 0–60mph in just 4.5 seconds, with the top speed limited to 156mph. There are also smart aerodynamics with a flat underbody and functional rear diffuser eliminating any need for a spoiler, preserving the car’s sublime silhouette. Drag is reduced with air inlets in the front bumper, which create an air curtain around the front wheels.

A car for every day

Although the Alpine A110 has a racing pedigree, this is a car that feels at home on the roads as much as it does on the track. There’s a great range of equipment as standard including 18-inch aluminium wheels, Focal audio system, leather-trimmed sports seats, brushed aluminium pedals and carbon fibre interior accents. The only choice the customer has to make is the colour, with the options of Alpine Blue, Noir Profond and Blanc Solaire.
