Throughout the current crisis, Arnold Clark has been working behind the scenes to help keep the NHS and key workers moving, as well as providing support to community groups wherever we could. Here are just some of the stories of the vital work our employees have been doing over the past three months.
Keeping the NHS moving
Some Service Centres remained open throughout lockdown to help repair emergency vehicles and Arnold Clark donated more than £30,000 in parts to keep them on the road. The Group also supplied vehicles to more than 450 NHS employees and key workers who may have otherwise have had difficulty getting to work, while our Coachbuilders upgraded NHS minibuses to comply with new safety measures. When the lockdown began, the company also donated all available PPE from our workshops to help NHS staff at hospitals throughout the country.
Scran Academy
Edinburgh youth charity Scran Academy changed their focus during lockdown and their dedicated volunteer team has now delivered more than 40,000 meals to vulnerable people in the Edinburgh area. Arnold Clark provided a van to help them reach more people.
Trossachs Search & Rescue Team
We work in partnership with the Trossachs Search & Rescue Team by providing vehicles, and have continued to support their work during lockdown. They’ve been working with local authorities to help vulnerable people within the community, delivering prescriptions, shopping and getting PPE where it is needed.
East End Flatpack Meals
Glasgow-based community group East End Flat-Pack Meals have delivered food parcels to vulnerable people during lockdown. Arnold Clark was happy to provide them with a van to help them continue this important work.
Ashgate Hospice
We provided Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield with a car, which has been used to collect and deliver PPE to staff.
Scottish Ambulance Service
Arnold Clark provided a van to the Scottish Ambulance Service which has been used to deliver regular meals to NHS employees.
