Stagecoach has announced it will be launching a new network of overnight sleeper buses under the ‘Megabus Gold’ brand. This will enable passengers to travel from Scotland to London from the comfort of a (slightly narrow) bunk bed. Passengers can pack light for their trip, as they can expect a free onesie on arrival as well as an eye mask and a tooth brush. Thousands of people each year take the coach from Scotland to London, so this new service is likely to be welcomed by many – whether the red Megabus onesies will be a hit or not will be revealed this summer when the service kicks off. The company has invested a whopping £5m in the project, which will allow passengers to travel on the 8 hour coach journey for as little as £15 one way. The manager from Stagecoach said: “It used to be just popstars that had beds on board their tour buses – now everyone can benefit from a comfortable, great value overnight journey. You can go to sleep in one city and wake up in another ready to start the day without having to pay extra for an expensive hotel room. “ Each bus will have 42 fold down beds and more than 1,700 beds will be available on the service each week. The service will link to Aberdeen, Aviemore, Cumbernauld, Dundee, Dunfermline Edinburgh, Falkirk, Fife, Glasgow, Inverness and Perth.
