Chevrolet has today announced that two additional models will be starring in the new car line-up at the 65th Frankfurt Motor Show on September 10th - the new Chevrolet Camaro convertible and coupe.
With enhanced aerodynamics, an updated design, modern convenience and connectivity – along with a competitive price tag – the Camaro’s debut will showcase a significant redesign of the ‘famed American muscle car’.
New design with enhanced aerodynamics
High-performance aerodynamics in the new Camaro mean the car will cool more efficiently and be more stable at high speeds.
- Fast, low-slung silhouette
- Wider lower grille and narrower upper grille
- Functional hood vent helps reduce heat and aerodynamic lift
- Sculptural deck lid horizontal lamps and a diffuser at the rear
- Spoiler with integral antenna
Power and performance
- 6.2L V8 engine
- 6-speed manual transmission, or automatic transmission with active fuel management and cam phasing (VVT).
- 432 hp (318 kW) at 5900 rpm.
- Torque of 569 Nm at 4600 rpmm.
- 0-100km/h acceleration in 5.2 seconds (manual coupe) or 5.4 seconds (manual convertible.)
- According to the Chevrolet website, the handling is “out of this world.”
And the roof of the convertible model takes just 20 seconds to retract, allowing you to enjoy a panaromic view at the same time as a powerful driving experience.
Updated interior with modern technology
- Remote keyless entry
- Remote engine start (automatic model)
- Leather adjustable Recaro sports bucket seats (optional for coupe variant)
- New color heads-up display
- Rearview camera
- New Chevrolet MyLink connected radio
Chevrolet MyLink Connected Radio
The New Chevrolet MyLink connected radio comes as standard in the new Camaro, with a 7” high resolution full-colour touch screen and a clean, icon-based display menu.
Chevrolet MyLink, already available in the Trax and the Aveo, allows users to view their phone contacts, music playlists and photos from compatible smartphones. Connectivity is provided through USB, Bluetooth and aux-in. The system is clever enough to work from voice recognition and to read out your text messages to you. Pretty cool.
You can also choose to add an integrated navigation system, giving coverage of the whole continent of Europe, and owners can update the system with dedicated apps as and when they become available.
Safety
- GM’s StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control System
- Six standard air bags
- Ultra-strength steel safety cage
Dr. Thomas Sedran, President and Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe commented: “Camaro has always been associated with iconic design, high performance and driving fun, and we are particularly proud of the new coupe and convertible models.
“They incorporate new high-tech features that add extra convenience and give customers even more value for their money.”
The redesigned Chevrolet Camaro – famous for being Bumblebee in the Transformers movies, in case you’re wondering where you’ve seen that face before – will arrive at dealerships across Europe towards the end of the year with a UK price tag of £35,320 for a manual coupe model and £40,320 for a manual Camaro convertible.
You'll be able to find out more about what the Camaro has to offer at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show – and you could receive your new car as early as November this year.
