This weekend, 7th and 8th June, the famous international Gumball 3000 rally is coming to Edinburgh as part of the 7 day rally from Miami to Ibiza.
The rally, which has a jaw-dropping entry fee of £40,000, is unsurprisingly made up of an eclectic mix of celebrities showcasing their jazzed up supercar rides. The rally has drawn in some of the world’s biggest celebrities, with the likes of Dannii Minogue, Jonny Knoxville, Quentin Tarantino and Snoop Dogg having taken part in the past (to name a few). This year, you can expect to see Gumball regular, the Hoff, parading his original Kitt – the car the Hollywood star was driving in the Knight Rider series.
The team currently in the lead is Scottish Team 17 with a Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe. The team has currently raised a staggering £41,461 for the Gumball 3000 Foundation, and they are also on a quest to do 50 Random Acts of Kindness throughout the 7 days of the rally in order to raise over £100,000 to send 100 very sick and terminally ill children to Lapland on the 15th December 2014.
The rally promises to be a spectacular event for Edinburgh residents, with The Rutland Hotel hosting a street party on Saturday from 12 noon. There will be music, balloon entertainers and face painters to keep the little ones entertained. You can take a look at the supercars which will be parked outside, and mingle with the drivers who will be registering for the rally in The Kyloe Private Dining Room, between 2pm and 4.30pm. Head down and see what famous faces you can spot!
On Sunday, from 9am until 11am, the Gumballers will congregate at the National Galleries of Scotland, situated on The Mound, before heading south to Manchester.
