Hiroyoshi Yoshiki, Toyota’s managing officer for their technical administration group, mentioned at the Bloomberg’s Next Big Thing Summit in San Francisco on Monday that Toyota’s dedicated research and development team are looking at making a hover car.
The car, Yoshiki was quick to add, would not hover high above the ground, but would levitate a small degree of distance above it, in order to reduce road friction and increase efficiency. (Perhaps not as Blade Runner as we first imagined after all, then…)
As yet, it is unclear how long Toyota has been working on this idea and how far along they are in testing out the technology, but we’re very excited to see how it progresses.
It’s been an impressive couple of weeks in car technology news, after Google unveiled their first self-driving prototype car. Sci-fi inventions are becoming a reality this week! We think this is a really neat idea and wish Toyota good luck in the development stages. Do you think they’ll be successful?
