Fancy something a bit different for your holidays? Volkswagen have turned into holiday makers this summer, by creating a unique holiday concept called the VW Hotel California, where guests can stay in one of six Volkswagen California SE camper vans in various beautiful locations around the UK.

One of the first locations where the concept will be tested out is Temple Island in Henley-on-Thames. Ordinarily, we would expect a private island to be way out of our price range, but this option means you can stay at this unique location for just £35 a night, with all proceeds going to charity!

The Volkswagen California camper has various amenities including:

  • Sleeps up to 4 people
  • Pop-up roof
  • Kitchen (with fridge, cooker, sink with running water and cupboards)
  • Awning with a table and two chairs
  • Lockable glove compartment
  • Alarm and immobiliser with tow away protection
  • Wifi
  • iPod docking
  • 'Climatronic' three-zone automatic air-conditioning
  • Heated seats and programmable central heating

The temple at Temple Island was built in 1771, its interior being based on designs which had just been discovered at Pompeii. This work is the first example in England of ornamentation in the Etruscan Style.

Not only is the island a beautiful place to visit, but lodgers at the VW Hotel California will be the first people to ever stay on the island! Talk about exclusive...

Rooms can be booked through Late Rooms, but don’t worry if you miss out, as the VW Hotel California will be going on tour to various other ‘adventurous’ locations soon!
