Yes, that’s right – MINI have revealed that, for the 13th year in succession, they will be donating a one-off MINI, transformed by a much-admired fashion designer, to the Vienna Life Ball Charity Event.
Now I have your attention – you want to know more, don’t you?
Well, with the Vienna Life Ball being one of the biggest AIDS charity events worldwide, it was only right that MINI got one of the world’s most famous international fashion designers to upgrade one of the seven MINI models for the charity auction. The money raised will go towards supporting people with HIV and AIDS.
So which designer will create this one-off MINI?
It could only be Roberto Cavalli, whose unconventional style goes hand in hand with MINI’s traditional values and modern diversity.
What makes this partnership even more special is that, this year, the model chosen to receive Cavalli’s artistic touch is none other than the new MINI Paceman, the youngest and seventh model in the MINI family.
The MINI Paceman, the first sports coupe from MINI, has a distinctive sporty design, making it a car that will turn heads and appeal to individuals who aren’t afraid to set trends. Cavalli has managed to enhance this even more, as his design features iridescent paint on the exterior, which shimmers from black to brown depending on the light. The Italian designer has also given the Paceman his expressive logo, which appears to float on the roof.
There is no doubt that this collector’s item will raise a lot of money when it is auctioned off in the Hall of Ceremonies at Vienna’s Hofburg Palace as part of the AIDS Solidarity Gala on the 25th May 2013.
Cavalli now joins the ranks of world famous fashion labels, such as DSQUARED, Diesel and Missoni, who have previously transformed a range of MINI models into sensational, one-off works of art.
This isn’t the first time that Cavalli has been involved with the Life Ball. He was responsible for staging the fashion show at the Ball in 2001 - which also happens to be the year that saw MINI commence its partnership with the charity event – and, twelve years later, Cavalli is contributing his redesign of the MINI Paceman.
Cavalli said “Designing the MINI was a very fun, exciting and stimulating experience. I had to create a car which not only respected and conveyed my fashion, but also my lifestyle: an unusual challenge, but surely a fashionable one.”
