On Tuesday 18th November, pupils from Ingram School were treated to a day out visiting the Leeds Motorstore branch.
Staff from the branch showed the children around the showroom, where they saw all the shiny new cars on sale. Rebecca Murgatroyd, teacher of the class, said: ‘We had an absolutely wonderful time at Arnold Clark.
The children were then taken through to the workshop where there were three cars raised up so the children could see how a car is worked on.
The kids were excited to see a car with no wheels and to see the underneath of a vehicle. ‘They couldn't believe their eyes when they went into the workshop and were over the moon that they got to sit inside the cars, beep the horns, look at the engine and sit inside a super car!
There was even more excitement in the room when one of the workshop controllers revved the engine.
The children also got a chance to sit in the front seat of a brand new Fiat 500 and were happy to be photographed looking like grown-ups at the steering wheel!
Lots of questions were asked throughout the day and staff members at the branch were happy to let the children know all about how cars work and what they do on a day-to-day basis at the branch. The children went back to school brimming with ideas, and ‘eager to write about the experience’, Rebecca said.
Rebecca informed us that the children were ‘thrilled’ to receive hats, balloons and goody bags and couldn’t wait to open them.
