This coming weekend sees Glendale, Arizona host the 49th Super Bowl, where the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks battle it out for the biggest prize in American Football.
But for many, the defining feature of this massive sporting event is the adverts at halftime.
Historically brands have invested huge amounts of time and money into coming up with the most memorable Super Bowl halftime advert.
This year, BMW is a part of that list.
If you’re old enough to remember the dawn of the World Wide Web, you’ll perhaps remember trying to get your head round how it all worked – all those .coms and email addresses.
BMW has chosen to focus on this theme for its halftime advert.
Using a (now famous) clip from the Today show, in 1994, the German brand touches on how people can sometimes struggle to grasp new concepts and technology – just like the Internet.
The star of the advert, though, is the BMW i3.
Driven by an emission-free electric engine, the i3 is ideal for both motorway and city driving guaranteeing mobility everywhere it goes. Just as the Internet was in 1994, the i3 is ahead of its time.
It also boasts breath-taking acceleration from low speeds or even a complete standstill.
The i3 showcases the latest in in-car technology and comfort. Features include:
- Bluetooth hands-free facility with USB audio interface
- BMW ConnectedDrive Services
- DAB radio
- Heat protection glazing
- Illuminated charging socket with a visual display charge status
- Multi-function leather steering wheel
- Park distance control
- Rain sensor wipers
- Automatic headlights
