Arnold Clark has sponsored its Oldbury Fiat/Motorstore sales executive Wayne Vitta£500 for his 10 mile Mount Snowdon trek on the 8th of August.
The funds generated will go directly to the Checkemlads charity – a cause very close to Wayne’s heart as a testicular cancer survivor. Checkemlads was officially founded in 2008 by Phil Morris. Phil felt very alone during his diagnoses and healing process and set up the charity to raise awareness of the disease.
The website is packed full of informational videos, advice and survivor stories to provide inspiration and support when it is needed most. Checkemlads seeks to get more people talking about testicular cancer and encourages men to visit their doctor if they notice any changes or anything unusual.
Wayne was diagnosed with testicular cancer in January. Following surgery and chemotherapy he has been given the all clear but will be under surveillance for the next five years.
Wayne said, ‘The main lesson I learned was don’t die from embarrassment. I definitely left it longer than I should have to visit the doctor. Eventually, when I went, it was just a mild tumour but it could have turned into something much more sinister with time.
We’d like to congratulate Wayne on his fundraising efforts and we wish him all the best for his Mount Snowdon trek.
April is also Testicular Awareness Month so there’s no better time to get involved.
