MotorSport.com reported today the all-new Ford GT ran on the track for the first time.
The car, designed by Multimac, was put through its paces on May 16 at the Calabogie Motorsports Park in Ontario, Canada.
The Ford GT was unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year and it is believed that the car will be on display at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next month.

Everything we know about the 2017 Ford GT:
- The Ford GT racecar will use a Roush Yates EcoBoost 3.5-litre V6 turbo engine.
- The V6 engine gives over 600bhp.
- The car will feature a 7-speed dual clutch transaxle automatic gearbox.
- An official reveal of the GT racecar in its final specification is expected to occur on January 30, 2016 at Daytona 24 Hours.
- The ‘Liquid Blue’ colour pictured here is a show colour only.
- A limited number of the all-new Ford GT racecars will be sold in the second half of 2016, firstly in the US, with global sales expected to follow.
- Each surface has been crafted to manage airflow.
- The steering wheel is Formula 1 inspired.
- Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer at Ford Performance, suggested that the price bracket will be similar to that of the Lamborghini Aventador (around $400,000).
- The GT was developed in secrecy over a 12-month period.
- The car is equipped with traction and launch controls, adjustable suspension, steering-wheel controls, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, a touchscreen and other notable features.
- Carbon fibre has been used to minimise vehicle weight.
- The driver can select one of four driving modes: Normal, Sport, Track and Wet.
- There will be four trim levels available.
