We believe that Hankook offers an unbeatable combination of value, quality and, most importantly, safety, and are therefore our number one choice for premium tyres. Read on to find out what makes Hankook the fastest growing tyre manufacturer in the world.
Humble beginnings
Hankook are based in Seoul, South Korea, and have been producing tyres for over 70 years since their foundation in 1941. The company thrived during the rapid growth of the Korean manufacturing industry and by the 1970s they had become one of the leading tyre brands in Asia.
In 1979, Hankook opened their Daejeon facility which was to focus on the production of radial tyres, an innovation that would see their exports expand to Europe and North America. Radial tyres, now the standard design for all automotive tyres, have a longer lifespan and are more fuel-efficient.
The company is now recognised in automotive markets across the globe with technical centres in the USA, Germany, Japan and China and employ over 21,000 staff members.
Innovative design
Hankook prides itself on being built around technological advancement and continues to develop tyres that perform to the highest standards under all conditions.
The company bases its products around ‘Kontrol Technology’, a concept they explain is being able to ‘fully command the interaction between car, driver and the road’. The four functions of Kontrol Technology are:
- Performance: Superior handling even in the worst conditions is cemented by award-winning durability.
- Safety: Hankook tyres guarantee safety due to rigorous testing and improvement.
- Comfort: Noise and harshness is kept to a minimum to ensure a cushioned ride.
- Environment: Increased fuel efficiency reduces cost for customers while negative impact to the environment is minimized by reduced carbon emissions.
