The iconic yellow Volkswagen Beetle, known for its curvy shape, has been given a makeover all in the name of art. A 50-year-old Indonesian artist has shaped the 1953 yellow Beetle into a perfect sphere specifically for the Art Basel Exhibition, held in Hong Kong, Miami and Switzerland.
The car is on display along with the plans and design blueprints, giving an all-round (pun intended!) understanding of the work that went into the design and what was needed to make it happen. This isn’t the first time the artist has contorted a vehicle: in the past, he created a Cubed Volkswagen Beetle, which was also on display at various exhibitions.
You might wonder how he could possibly have achieved this, especially without damaging the car – but he actually used parts of the vehicles along with aluminium and polyester to create the effect.
Pretty smart if you ask us!
