From annual staples to brand-new festivals, 2016 promises to offer a fun-filled summer for anyone with an interest in motoring.
Here are our top picks of this year’s automotive summer events.
June
Cholmondeley Pageant of Power– 10th, 11th and 12th June
Cheshire welcomes the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power in a couple of weeks’ time, a family motorsport festival with a focus on supercars.
Not only can you check out track action from stunning supercars such as the McLaren 675LT, 1989 Lamborghini Countach or the 2008 Ferrari FXX, you can also see classic motorcycle demonstrations, military air displays and much more.
Camping is available on site and there are numerous hotels in the local area as well.

Milngavie Classic Car Show– 18th June
A smaller car show still in its infancy, the Milngavie Classic Car Show is back for its second year. One for Glasgow-based classic car enthusiasts, you can expect to see cars ranging from the Vauxhall Cavalier to the Sunbeam Alpine series V.
Expect up to 50 classic and vintage cars, music and food stalls.

Goodwood Festival of Speed– 23rd–26th June
The largest of its kind, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is an unmissable event for any motoring enthusiast.
Rare and glamorous cars stand alongside stars of the motorsport world to create a heady mix of automotive entertainment.
The 1.16-mile Goodwood Hillclimb is the iconic main event, where heritage cars take on the steep slope in the estate – a must-see spectacle.
But that’s not all Goodwood has to offer. Catch freestyle motocross, BMX and mountain bike stars pull out all of their best tricks, head to the F1 paddock to get up close to the sport’s best cars and drivers, or eat the dust of rally car drivers as they tear up the woodland course.

July
Scottish Car Show– 17th July
The largest motoring event in the Scottish calendar, the Scottish Car Show boasts over 2,000 exhibitor vehicles ranging from classic to modified, muscle and performance cars.
This year’s event takes place in Edinburgh and will feature a motorsport stunt display team, a drift taxi track and fun for all the family including a KidZone, face painting and even paintballing!

Silverstone Classic– 29th–31st July
Silverstone Classic is the ultimate event for fans of historic and classic cars.
The weekend is jam-packed with classic motor racing, car clubs, aerial displays and live music from the likes of The Boomtown Rats and The Stranglers at the world-famous Silverstone circuit.
Cost: Three-day weekend ticket £14 (adult), £12 (child)
CarFest North 29th–31st July
Chris Evans’ brainchild, CarFest offers a weekend of fun for all the family with music from ABC, Faithless, Texas and more, kids’ entertainment, and of course, lots of car action including a hill climb, car clubs and ‘dream rides’.
This year the event will take place at the stunning Bolesworth Castle in Cheshire.

August
IGNITION Festival of Motoring– 5th–7th August
This brand-new event will take place at Glasgow’s SECC this summer and promises to bring world-class entertainment for car lovers in Scotland.
We were lucky enough to get a sneak preview of IGNITION earlier this year, and can confidently say it promises to be an outstanding event.
You can expect to see a super car gallery, world rally cars, classic car pavilion, Top Gear’s stunt team and much more.

CarFest South– 26th–28th August
CarFest South will once again be located at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire.
This southern leg of CarFest has all the same entertainment as its northern sibling, but with different musical acts. You can sing along to the likes of Will Young, James Morrison, Jamie Lawson and Squeeze at this festival.

September
Goodwood Revival– 9th–11th September
Goodwood Revival is unique in that it is the only motor racing meeting to be staged entirely in period dress.
Soak up the glamour of motor racing as it was in days gone by and enjoy watching classic cars take on the iconic circuit as vintage helicopters swoop through the sky above you.
In the words of Jools Holland, ‘It's like walking back perfectly into a black and white photograph, except it's in colour and 3D, it's amazing.’

International Autojumble– 3rd–4th September
For something a little different, head to the International Autojumble at Beaulieu in Hampshire.
This outdoor sale of motoring items is the biggest of its kind outside the US. With over 2,000 stands selling everything from classic motor parts to literature, tools and clothing, there is something for everyone.
On Saturday 4th September, Bonhams will hold an auction of collectors’ cars, automobilia and motorcycles – a must-do for anyone wanting a unique vehicle or restoration project.
