The Glasgow Kiltwalk takes place on 30th April with thousands expected to participate, and a number of Arnold Clark employees among them. We’ve been speaking to some of our staff to find out about what inspired them to participate in the Kiltwalk and the causes they’re supporting.

Pamela Miller works as a service development coach at Arnold Clark. Along with her team, she’s taking on the ultimate walking challenge of the Mighty Stride, starting at Glasgow Green and finishing at Moss O’Balloch Park. Her colleagues from the Service Division, Linda McMenamin, Laura Walsh and Petrena Mitchell, will join her on the day.

Pamela is raising money for Cancer Research UK, a cause that is close to her heart.

She said: ‘Cancer touches us all in one way or another and devastates families. I unfortunately lost a very close aunt to the illness. Linda is also walking for Cancer Research UK and Laura is raising awareness of dementia for the South Ayrshire Dementia Support Association, an illness she sadly lost her Grandpa to.

The team have been using every opportunity to train, and recently took a hike along the Aberdeen Esplanade. ‘We sometimes get the chance to be together when we’re travelling to specific branches for work-related training, so where possible we take our kit and go for our power walks.’

Collectively, the team have raised £780 with Pamela’s own personal target of £200 already exceeded. Arnold Clark is supporting every employee that participates by matching funds up to £1000, something Pamela really appreciates. ‘I am extremely humbled by the support that they are offering and to double our funds is a phenomenal gesture!’

We wish Pamela and her team the best of luck with the Mighty Stride.
