The Glasgow Kiltwalk takes place on 30th April, with thousands expected to participate, and a number of Arnold Clark employees among them. We’ve been speaking to some of our staff to find out about what inspired them to participate and the causes they’re supporting.
Branding Executive Mark Fairley is going the distance at the Kiltwalk and walking the full 23 miles of the Mighty Stride. It’s not his first experience of the event, but it will be his first time participating.
He said: ‘I worked at the event last year giving out Arnold Clark shortbread and sunglasses. There was a great atmosphere and the sun was shining, so I’m hoping for the same again this year.’
He’s walking in support of the Beatson Cancer Charity, a cause he has worked with for some time. ‘After my Gran was a patient in the Beatson, I volunteered in their Wellbeing Centre for nine months, just one night a week after work. They’re an amazing charity who support those going through a difficult time in their lives. For patients in the hospital, the Wellbeing Centre provides some time away from the wards.’
The Mighty Stride starts at Glasgow Green and weaves its way through locations including Yoker, Clydebank, Bowling, Milton and Vale of Leven before finally arriving in Balloch. Mark is expecting the day to be anything but a walk in the park, as he’s taken a whole week off afterwards to recover!
Everyone at Arnold Clark wishes Mark the best of luck on his Kiltwalk.
