A group of Scotland supporters have organised a charity bike ride in June 2017, and plan to cycle from Wembley stadium to Hampden Park stadium. They are leaving Wembley in London on the morning of 6th June and are arriving at Hampden Park, Glasgow at approximately 2pm, just before the important World Cup qualifier between Scotland and England.

This group will be raising funds for the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal (TASA). The aim of the Tartan Army Sunshine appeal is to make a donation to children’s charities in every country in which the Scottish National Football Team plays matches. This has been achieved since 2003 – just last year TASA made six individual £5000 donations, including one to Lifeline 4 Kids in London.

One of the riders, Tom Dearie said:

‘The idea behind this bike ride came about in Malta last September at the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal presentation.’ Knowing how many donations had been made in 2016 alone (and after a few beers) I spoke to a couple of pals about doing something to raise money to go towards future TASA donations, namely Lithuania and Slovenia. And so the Wembley to Hampden charity bike ride came about.’

Tom also added:

‘Having organised charity rides over multiple days in the past, I cannot stress enough the importance of the donation of two support vehicles from Vauxhall/Arnold Clark. Not only will the vehicles provide daily support for the team and help us transport our kit through each stage, its also a huge cost saving that allows more money to go directly to the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal. Everyone associated with the ride appreciates what Vauxhall/Arnold Clark have done in making the two vehicles available to us and we can’t wait to see them and their specially designed livery.’

Arnold Clark Chief Executive and Group Managing Director Eddie Hawthorne added:,

‘It’s a real pleasure to help Tom and the team with the transport to London. We wish them all the best in the charity bike ride.’
