Arnold Clark has recently announced its support for mental health charity Samaritans by giving a donation of £1000.
The organisation, established in 1953 by Chad Varah, provides support to anyone experiencing emotional distress, struggling to cope, feeling alone or at risk of suicide in the UK and Ireland, predominantly through their telephone helpline, which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
With over 6,000 suicides every year in the UK and Ireland, the Samaritans continues to be a vital service for those in desperate need. Their dedicated, non-judgmental team assist by helping callers gain a greater understanding of their problems, giving them time to explore their options or simply being an impartial listener.
The funds have helped the Kilmarnock Samaritans branch with their move to the Foregate from their previous premises on Titchfield Street. The Samaritans team is looking forward to settling into their new surroundings with modern equipment and a separate training room.
Arnold Clark Chief Executive and Group Managing Director Eddie Hawthorne said: ‘We’re delighted to support Samaritans – a vital charity that provides invaluable emotional support to those who need it most.’
Currently, the Kilmarnock branch has 30 volunteers. However, they recruit in February and August to enable them to support as many people in the community as possible. If you’re over 18 and would like to volunteer for Samaritans, please visit their website..
